Simon Ives, MBA

I have worked across both Private and Public sectors in various industries including Government, Mining/Resources, Aviation, Health, Community Services, Learning and Development, Disaster Management, and Hospitality. My work is focused on both strategic & operational human resources with a focus on people-driven business transformation, particularly with a technology focus.

I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to work and the technology that enables it. I’ve spent my career using the tools of Philosophy and Social Science to question how we work, how we support those who work, and how to make the experience of work better.

I have an MBA, four other graduate qualifications, and a range of complimentary vocational qualifications. I'm currently responsible for HR Technology Strategy at Australia’s largest company, and the world's largest mining company, BHP, I serve on the MBA HR Specialisation Advisory Committee for the Australian Institute of Business, and volunteer as a mentor for both AHRI and graduate students at QUT, and as a digital mentor at the Digital Literacy Foundation.

What I Do

Human Resources

I am a full-stack HR leader with expert-level skills as a Culture & Change Leader, Business Strategist, Workforce & Workplace Designer, Expert Practitioner, Organisational Enabler, and Trusted Advisor (The Australian HR Capability Framework).

HXM Transformation

I specialise in HXM transformation programs from concept through implementation and post-go-live management. I have experience with SAP (SuccessFactors and S/4HANA), Workday, UKG (both Ready and Dimensions/Pro), ServiceNow, Qualtrics, Cornerstone On Demand, and many more.

Strategic Work Design

I'm an expert in dynamic work design, particularly with a focus on people processes and technological supports. I have extensive experience in the design and implementation of improvement strategies, detailed knowledge of why improvement strategies usually fail and the psychological reasons behind learning, change, and motivation, and how to go about problem solving effectively. I am a leader in structured problem-solving using tools such as the A3 approach to continuous improvement, and improvement management using methodologies such as six sigma.
